Consumer Health Data Privacy Notice

Effective Date: July 13, 2026 · This notice is about health-related information about you, the nurse — not patient data. It supplements our Privacy Policy and is provided under laws such as Washington's My Health My Data Act, Nevada's SB 370, and the Connecticut Data Privacy Act.
1

What this notice covers

Some information you choose to share with NurseCircle is health-related information about you. Depending on where you live, it may be treated as "consumer health data." This notice explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It does not make NurseCircle a healthcare provider, a medical-record system, or a HIPAA-covered entity, and it is separate from your duty to keep patient information confidential.

2

What consumer health data we collect

Only information you choose to provide by using optional features, including:

  • Shift Reflections — mood, energy, and support ratings, selected challenges, and any private notes you write after a shift.
  • Wellness check-ins — how you say you're feeling.
  • Conversations with Cara that reveal health-related information about you (for example, stress, burnout, or wellbeing).

We do not ask you to provide diagnoses, symptoms, or medical records, and you should not enter patient-identifying information anywhere in NurseCircle.

3

Why we collect it and how we use it

We use this information only to provide the features you choose to use — to show your reflections and wellness history back to you, and to power the private, opt-in Cara features you turn on. Using your reflection details to generate longer-term patterns (Cara Insights) is off by default and only happens if you separately turn it on.

4

Sharing — and what we do not do

We do not sell your consumer health data. We do not share it for advertising, and we do not use it to train AI models. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract, to operate the features you use — currently our cloud provider (Google Firebase) for storage and our AI provider (OpenAI) to process Cara conversations you choose to have. These providers are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes.

5

Your choices and rights

You can, at any time:

  • Withdraw consent to our collection and use of your consumer health data going forward.
  • Access the reflections and wellness information tied to your account.
  • Delete your consumer health data — individual reflections, or all of it — and delete your account entirely.

Deleting your account removes your reflections, wellness data, and Cara history from your active account. Some information may persist for a limited period in routine encrypted backups before it is overwritten, and we may retain the minimum necessary for legal, security, or fraud-prevention purposes. To exercise any of these rights, use the in-app privacy controls or contact info@nursecircleapp.com.

6

Consent and withdrawal

We collect this information only when you choose to use the features that involve it, and we ask for your agreement where the law requires it. If you withdraw consent, we stop collecting and using your consumer health data for those features going forward; this does not affect processing that already took place. Withdrawing consent may mean some optional features no longer work.

7

Appeals

If we decline a request about your consumer health data, you may ask us to reconsider by replying to our response or contacting info@nursecircleapp.com. Depending on your state, you may also contact your state Attorney General.
